We are celebrating the 105th birthday of Signalman 1st Class Douglas Munro, who sacrificed his life to evacuate nearly 500 Marines on September 27, 1942, at Guadalcanal - and in so doing, became the Coast Guard’s only Medal of Honor recipient.
